Vaibhava Upadhyay, Abender Singh Maanju, Deepankar Panwar

Abstract

Congenital dengue could be asymptomatic or present with critical illness. In vertical transmission, it presents with fever, rash, thrombocytopenia, hepatomegaly, and mildly elevated liver enzyme levels.

We present a case of a neonate who had dengue and was positive for nonstructural protein 1. He was asymptomatic initially, but later developed critical illness requiring mechanical ventilation with inotropic support. He was discharged after 2 weeks of critical illness, after achieving breastfeeding.
