Abstract
The technology for online conferencing and teaching has existed for many years. However, its use has exponentially increased within a few months of the onset of the COVID-19 pandemic, thus resulting in radical changes in health care delivery and knowledge dissemination. A plethora of online synchronous teaching sessions and webinars are being held in India and across the globe, currently. In this article, I provide 10 tips (dos and don’ts) for teachers to make their online teaching sessions effective.
Teachers should plan a teaching session based on the principles of good instructional design and on the needs of the learners, rehearse the use of technology, use slides with minimal text and plenty of visuals, make the teaching session interactive, use questions as a technique of teaching, use the camera effectively, speak vibrantly, and avoid long monologs.
