Retrograde Balloon Aortic Valvuloplasty in a Neonate With Left Ventricular Dysfunction: A Case Report

Severe valvular aortic stenosis (AS) is one of the congenital heart defects that may require intervention during neonatal period. Balloon aortic valvuloplasty (BAV) has become the treatment of choice for neonates with critical or severe AS, in many centers. Usual approaches, both antegrade and retrograde, can be problematic in neonates. Despite the availability of the balloon valvotomy technology in our country, experience with BAV is limited to older children with valvular AS.
