Abstract
Lymphangiomas are benign lymphatic duct masses that are usually located in the neck and axilla. Rarely, such masses are also found in the peritoneal cavity, mediastinum, and retroperitoneum.
We present the case of a 45-day-old neonate who was admitted to the pediatric intensive care unit of Shri Dharmasthala Manjunatheshwara College of Medical Sciences and Hospital (Dharwad, Karnataka, India) with the features suggestive of acute intestinal obstruction and was considered for an emergency laparotomy. Intraoperatively, a cystic mass originating from the mesentery was discovered. This is a rare cause of acute intestinal obstruction due to mesenteric lymphangioma.
